Carved from New Zealand pounamu, this contemporary eel-inspired pendant flows with the energy of our rivers and streams.
The long, winding form of the tuna (eel) carries deep significance in te ao Māori. Tuna are known as great travellers, resilient and enduring, moving between fresh water and the vast ocean on their journeys. As a pendant, this flowing “S” design embodies that sense of movement, adaptability, and strength.
The smooth, tactile shape is also designed for touch, a calming form to trace with your fingers that grounds the wearer in moments of stress or distraction. In this way it serves both as adornment and as a quiet sensory tool, holding space for balance and focus.
Each piece of pounamu is unique, its colours and patterns shaped over millennia by the land and waters of Aotearoa. This stone carries with it the mana of its origins, offering connection, resilience, and grounding to the one who wears it.
Over time, the pendant will absorb the oils of the skin, deepening in colour and sheen and becoming ever more personal. Strong, enduring, and sacred, pounamu is treasured as taonga, a piece to wear close, honour, and pass on to future generations.
This pendant is strung on an adjustable waxed cord, ready to wear.
