This is a rare pounamu Niho (Tooth of the Taniwha) made of dark green south westland pounamu.
The Niho is a symbol of leadership, resilience, guardianship and protection.
I personally hand carved this special piece, polished it up to how it is today, as seen in the photos.
Over time absorb the wearers oils binding your connection with the stone forever meaning it can be passed down for generations, these stones very durable and have been around for millions of years.
Pounamu is specifically special to the people of New Zealand and is said to contain mana.
I always carve pounamu in a way that embraces its unique wairua.
This piece is currently strung using a “invisible” hole technique with black 1.6cm thick string but can be changed if requested.
